Unicorn is located in Fortuneswell, Portland within sight and sound of Chesil Beach. A traditional style property you will have partial sea views and has been tastefully furnished so you can enjoy your holiday. There is plenty to do in Portland. The walking is excellent with stunning coastal views on almost all routes. Continue a walk in Tout Quarry Sculpture Park and combine the outdoors with artworks dotted around the trails with new art being added all the time. There are 3 lighthouses on Portland with one now a bird obserbatory and nature centre and the active one having a visitor centre right at Portland Bill where you can also indulge in a great lunch or cream tea at the Lobster Pot. Plenty of water sports on offer with the National Sailing Academy on Portland harbour so try windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding or diving. The fishing is also good with several spots around Portland holding record sized fish. Visit Portland Museum, relax on Church Ope beach, discover the pirate graves or take an evening stroll along Chesil Beach.
The accommodation at Unicorn comprises of a sitting room with TV, DAB/Bluetooth/CD music system, electric log burner and WiFi enabled throughout. The dining room has table and chairs for four and the kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a sun room with additional seating which leads out to the garden. A downstairs shower room rounds off the ground floor. Up some cottage style stairs to two bedrooms arranged as a king size double and a twin. The bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and toilet. A cot and highchair can be made available upon request.
Outside is a tiered garden with patio complete with furniture. There is off road parking for one car. Unicorn accepts one well behaved dog. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.Read more
Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.
There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.Read less
