Sea Pinks Cottage nestles at the bottom of a steep hill that is historic Mallams, in Fortuneswell. Built around 1860, this fine Portland Stone fisherman's cottage has been completely refurbished and decorated to exceptional standards to provide a truly inviting retreat for six people. The cottage enjoys on-street parking nearby and is also well served by buses to Portland Bill and Weymouth.
On entering the cottage you will arrive at the stylish lounge with comfy seating for six. There is a Plasma TV with Freeview, radio, DVD and CD player and plenty of books and games. There is full central heating throughout the property. The adjacent dining room similarly provides generous seating for six. The bright and airy kitchen has been completely renovated in recent times and has everything chef could need. There is a gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and Cafetiere. A washer/drier completes this very comprehensive inventory. Leading off from the dining room there are doors leading to the secure walled garden, a real sun trap with garden table and seating and a BBQ.
The stairs to the first and second floors are the steep originals and guests are kindly asked to supervise children under five. On the first floor we reach the stunning master bedroom with its views over the Portland skyline. Like the rest of the property, the master bedroom is a real testament to the owner's impeccable taste! The family bathroom shares this floor and again offers a really luxurious and stylish bathing experience - stunning moody lighting and a huge shower!
Up the final flight of stairs we reach two well appointed twin bedded rooms, one with clear views of Lyme Bay and the other, distant roof tops over Chesil. All bedrooms have plenty of cupboard space.
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.Read more
