Mum's Place is a traditional mason's cottage built around 1825. Situated just a five minute walk from Chesil Cove at the eastern end of Chesil Beach, the stone cottage have been extensively refurbished with modern facilities but maintain many original features. The ground floor starts with the entrance corridor with original stone. The lounge contains a 32" television with Freeview, DVD and CD player as well as a radio for you to use. WiFi is enabled throughout Mum's Place. There is a stone fireplace and a woodburning stove to keep you warm in the winter. The kitchen has a breakfast bar, washer/dryer, dish washer, range gas cooker with hood and ample work surfaces. There is a separate fridge and freezer and even an ironing board and iron is provided. There is a dining are with table and chairs with another stone fireplace with open grate fire.
On this floor is also the family bathroom with separate shower, bath, WC and sink. The bathroom is also completely tiled.
Up the first floor to the double bedroom with plenty of storage space provided by the oak furniture. The first of the twin bedrooms is also on the first floor.
The second floor takes you to the second double and the second twin bedroom.
Outside there is a front garden for parking for three cars and a rear yard with patio furniture and a barbecue as well as wall mounted line for drying washing or from your trip to the seaside. Baby equipment of a travel cot and high chair is available, linen and towels are provided as standard and welcome pack of flowers, fresh fruit, bacon, egg, sausages, milk, bread and fresh orange juice is provided for you.Read less
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.Read more
Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.
There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.Read less
