Chiswell was once the biggest settlement on Portland but with its close proximity to the sea, the hurricane of 1824 changed that. These days the sea defences protect Chiswell which is good as it is full of charm. Chesil Beach is right on your door step, so walks or any activity to do with the sea is very close to hand. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Centre is also a short walk away. Look out for the beautiful walled community garden near Great Ope, a great place to stop for a very tranquil 5 or 10 minutes.Read more
