Jurassic Coast House is part of a development of sustainable eco-friendly homes that were built to house the athletes at the 2012 Olympics. Located in Fortuneswell, Portland and set over three floors with views to Chesil Beach and benefiting from a roof terrace. You are just a few minutes walk to Portland Harbour and the National Sailing Academy where you can try sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing. Portland is part of the South West Coast Path with magnificent coastal views which can be enjoyed with all the family as Jurassic Coast House accepts one well behaved dog. Explore Tout Quarry and mix those views and a good walk with sculpture or spot some rare birds as Portland is on a migration route and one of the three lighthouses is now a bird observatory. You can visit Portland Castle on foot as it is just 5 minutes away or discover the ruins of 12th century Rufus Castle and the nearby pirate graves.
The accommodation at Jurassic Coast House comprises of a sitting room with TV, Sonos wireless music player, WiFi and a selection of books and games. The kitchen has a dining area and utility equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. On the ground floor is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom as well as a cloakroom and bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and toilet. On the top floor is a king size double bedroom with en suite shower room and a twin bedroom and access to the roof terrace. A cot and highchair can be provided.
Outside is a fully enclosed rear garden with patio complete with furniture and a putting area with golf clubs also supplied. The roof terrace has relaxing seating from which to plan your next day's activities. There is off road parking for two cars. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.
There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.Read less
