Fishy's Cottage is a traditional fisherman's cottage built around 1825. Situated just a five minute walk from Chesil Cove at the eastern end of Chesil Beach, the stone cottage have been extensively refurbished with modern facilities but maintain many original features. Fishy's Cottage provides a very comfortable base from which to explore Portland and the adjacent Jurassic coast.Read more
The ground floor contains the open plan lounge diner which includes dining table and six chairs. There are two sofas, one of which is a sofa bed. There is a 32" television with Freeview, DVD and CD player as well as a radio for you to use. WiFi is enabled throughout Fishy's Cottage. The galley kitchen has a breakfast bar, washer/dryer, dish washer, gas cooker with hood and ample work surfaces. There is a separate fridge and freezer and even an ironing board and iron is provided.
Up the first floor to the double bedroom with plenty of storage space provided by the pine furniture. On this floor is also the family bathroom with shower over bath, bidet, WC and sink.
The second floor takes you to the family room with double and single beds and again plenty of storage space in the white furniture. The nursery/junior bedroom is also on this floor with a cot-bed suitable for children up to 5 years old.
Outside there is a front garden for parking for two cars and a rear yard with patio furniture and a barbecue as well as wall mounted line for drying washing or from your trip to the seaside. Baby equipment of a travel cot and high chair is available, linen and towels are provided as standard and welcome pack of flowers, fresh fruit, bacon, egg, sausages, milk, bread and fresh orange juice is provided for you.Read less
Fortuneswell covers quite a large area, really from the Heights Hotel at the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights you will see a statue by artist and sculptor Joanna Szuwalska title "The Spirit of Portland". Fortuneswell has many shops and along High Street you will be able to find "Isle of Portland Statues" for sale, all hand made.Read more
Once again the walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope so even if the walking is easy on the way down remember the walk back! Chesil Beach is easily accessable from Fortuneswell, but turning up the hill gives you many different options for some interesting walks to the top of the island.
There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell so you should find something to suit both your taste and pocket and all within walking distance.Read less
