Weston is the village at the centre of the island and mixes new property with the very old. There are a handful of shops in the village for any supplies you may need. Being central, Weston makes a good starting point to any walk on the island.
Dominating the area is the wonderful St George's Church, built in 1776. Using the same stone as St Paul's Cathedral, it is the most impressive 18th-century church in Dorset. It is unusual for having two pulpits. The large graveyard has many headstones that tell some of the histories of the area. There are several options for eating out including several pubs, a takeaway and a restaurant. L and O's Bistro rates as the best place to eat out on Portland according to a well-known review site. Easton is but a short walk away with more eating out choices and a larger range of shops.
