Schooner Cottage is a stone-fronted Georgian terraced cottage, set in the picturesque village of Fortuneswell, on the Isle of Portland in Dorset.
Set over three floors, this property is perfect for friends and families alike. On entering the property, you will be greeted with a cosy, carpeted living/dining room where you can snuggle up on the double sofa in front of the woodburning stove and escape reality through the wall-mounted Smart TV. Pull out the dining table and enjoy a meal together, whilst sharing stories of your holiday so far. Be charmed by the traditional floorboards, as you make your way through to the fully-equipped kitchen and throw together a delicious meal for the family without having to worry about the washing up, thanks to the slimline dishwasher. Enter the quaint lobby, before taking advantage of the well-thought-out shower room, where you can clean yourself off after an adventure-filled day.
Step outside into the small courtyard for a breath of fresh air. On a warm day, why not make use of the table and chairs for an intimate dining experience. As the evening grows darker, climb up the staircase to the first floor, where you will find an attractive stone exposed double bedroom. Completing this floor is a tranquil bathroom boasting a decorative fireplace and views out to Chesil Beach; here, you can indulge in the traditional freestanding claw foot bath. On the second floor, you will be greeted by a charming double bedroom, with antique chic furnishings. From here, enter the Jack-and-Jill cloakroom featuring a WC and basin This floor is completed with another spacious bedroom, hosting an adjustable day bed with a pull-out, able to make this into a double bed for flexible sleeping arrangements.
There is an abundance of things to do throughout your stay at Schooner Cottage. Three minutes walk to Chesil Cove you will find a beachside cafe at Chesil Cove, along with a traditional English public house. The cottage is situated on the South West Coastal path, which offers unique UK wildlife and bird watching opportunities. The location is also an excellent area for dog walking. Thrill-seekers will find pleasure in a trip to Portland Marina for a number of watersports activities. For adventures further afield, enjoy the day exploring the beautiful seaside town of Weymouth, where their harbour is one not to be missed.

Chiswell was once the biggest settlement on Portland but with its close proximity to the sea, the hurricane of 1824 changed that. These days the sea defences protect Chiswell and its charm. Chesil Beach is right on your doorstep, so walks or any activity to do with the sea is very close to hand. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Centre is also a short walk away. Look out for the beautiful walled community garden near Great Ope for a very tranquil 10 or 15 minutes. Visit the Chesil Beach Visitor Centre, a 15-minute walk away or roughly 2 minutes by car. Learn all about Chesil Beach and the varied wildlife that live there. Attached to the Centre is the Taste Cafe that serves food all through the day. For going out for a drink or something to eat and you are in for a treat. The 18th century Cove House Inn sits alongside Chesil Beach and is an excellent place to watch the sun go down. Further round Chesil Cove sits Quiddles Cafe. There is also an Indian restaurant/takeaway if you fancy something a little more exotic. The wonderful Chesil Chippie has locally caught fish and the Portland Pizza Company has take out wood-fired pizzas.
