Neptune Cottage is a traditional Portland cottage situated in Fortuneswell, Portland, Dorset and benefits from its location on Chesil Beach. The cottage can sleep 5 people in 1 double, 1 twin single and 1 single bedroom, as well as a family bathroom and shower room. The rest of the cottage is made up of a fitted kitchen dining room and a sitting room with a feature stone fireplace. To the outside of the cottage, there is parking in a council-owned car park and a small courtyard with garden furniture. Neptune Cottage is ideally located for access to Chesil beach and the National sailing centre, where you can try all manner of water sports.

Neptune Cottage is a delightful terraced fisherman's cottage dating back 200 years situated behind the sea wall and just a minute or so from the beach, Positioned in the popular Chiswell area of Portland it is in the perfect location for water sports enthusiasts with wetsuit drying hooks and hose conveniently in the property. The National Sailing Academy as well as diving and windsurfing facilities are very close. Neptune Cottage is a popular choice with guests due to its beachside location and its mix of character features and modern interior decoration. With accommodation over three floors, you have everything you need for a family’s or a group of friends stay. There is a comfortable ground floor shower room and a spacious first-floor bathroom, the bedrooms are located on the first and second floors. As the property doesn’t have WiFi service, you can unwind and enjoy your holiday forgetting about daily routine. The spectacular dog-friendly Chesil beach stretches for miles and, literally behind the cottage, can be accessed in seconds. You can walk on top of the bank towards Chesil Beach visitor centre where you can find out more about Dorset wildlife. If you enjoy fishing the sea adjacent to the cottage is one of the more popular fishing marks for locals, try and catch your tea while the rest of the family relax in the sun. Alternatively, enjoy a meal and drink at the adjacent Cove Inn which has a terrace overlooking the beach or Quiddles, just along the esplanade which serves fresh seafood. There are also a variety of takeaways, pubs and restaurants including the acclaimed Blue Fish Cafe within a few minutes’ walk. Local shops are also conveniently located a ten-minute stroll away. Try a walk along the South West coastal path from here which in its entirety is 630 miles long. One of the sections goes around the rugged landscape of the Isle of Portland with three lighthouses, XIII century church ruins, Rufus Castle, Portland Harbour and more. Neptune House is a lovely holiday home for families and water sports enthusiasts in which to enjoy a beachside holiday.

Fortuneswell

Fortuneswell covers quite a large area. From just below the top of the island with its amazing views along Chesil Beach to the bottom of the hill where it blends into Chiswell. As you descend from the Heights Hotel you will see the Olympic Rings sculpture to commemorate the 2012 Olympics. Portland hosted the sailing and windsurfing events. Further down you will see a statue by a local artist titled "The Spirit of Portland" with more great views along Chesil Beach. Fortuneswell has many shops including a Co-op, Boots and the Royal Manor Theatre.

The walking from Fortuneswell is good but do remember you are on a slope. Therefore, an easy walk one way will be harder on the way back! Walk to the High Angle Battery, an 18th-century gun emplacement. Tout Quarry Nature Reserve and Sculpture Park are opposite the Heights Hotel. Artists have been creating sculptures to leave around the park since 1983. Famous sculptures include the Falling Man by Sir Antony Gormley. Chesil Beach is easily accessible if you fancy a walk along the sea. There are several pubs, restaurants and takeaways all available within Fortuneswell. A short walk to Chiswell gives you many more options to eat out and all within walking distance.
