This award winning family attraction is located near Poole and is specifically aimed at children eight and under and their families. It was originally a working farm and to keep links to their earlier heritage the animal barn is mostly made up of farm animals and pets. There is a good mix of indoor and outdoor play so you get some of their energy expended whatever the weather. The children get lots of opportunity to get hands on.
There is a good mix of traditional farm animals along with ever popular guinea pigs and rabbits. There are 3 Kune pigs, a breed from New Zealand, and 2 breeds of pony, Shetlands and a miniature Old English pony. There are sessions every day for the children to groom the ponies which both parties seem to enjoy greatly. There are several breeds of sheep and Farmer Palmers also takes on orphaned lambs from local farms. There are bottle feeding events for the lambs every day in the barn. There are 3 breeds of cow and there is a milking demonstration held each day to educate the children on where milk comes from. There are chickens and ducks and a miniature Mediterranean donkey thats just 27 inches high.
There are also many other attractions. There is a woodland walk which takes you round an old Victorian duck pond, along the side of the Sherford River and on to the drier part of the woods. There are many different plants to be seen as well as many different bird species including ducks. There are two bouncy castles, one indoor tractor bouncy castle for learner bouncers and an outdoor big cow castle. Introduced in 2010 is the new interactive water play. Pump the water and watch it flow, press the buttons and work out where the next shower is coming from. There is a large outdoor sand plat area and a recently upgraded wendy house area. In the summer there is a giant maize maze.
Food and drinks are available from the Hen House restaurant serving traditional home cooked food for all ages.
